white sky

vampire weekend

i finally watched new moon (by the way, i think it looks stupid when they are like twilight: new moon. the movie is called new moon, isn't it?) and it was HILARIOUS. and kinda boring, but the acting, the comic lines, plus the dazzling made up for it. unfortunately, my favourite part of Twilight, was not really included in this film -- Jasper's constipated look and actions.

also, yesterday was the last day of finals, fortunately, and i went to UO with several people (and then Starbucks for WHITE CHOCOLATE MOCHAS), but i tried the dress in the picture posted and i absolutely loved it. The blue version looks so Alice in Wonderland-esque. I love it so so so so so much.

and SKINS? I saw the fourth season today!! it had a killer opening (pun intended, if it is a pun?)
no, really though. they started off with a new character, Sophia, who they didn't really introduce, and we see her weaving her way through the crowd (looking zoned out), and along the way, we see familiar faces from Season 3 minus Effy. and then sophia commits suicide.
it was thomas's episode, and the party where sofia commited suicide, was the night where he deejayed.
he starts questioning if his friends are really friends with him AND he cheats on Panda! THOMAS WHAT THE HELL?

anyways, it was an okay episode, hopefully better to come. though, tres dramatique.

i went to my old middle school for a year. I only went there for a year -- eighth grade.

I was there to recruit eight graders. To get into my high school, you have to apply.

The whole experience was weird.

It was only 3 years ago that I walked those hallways, opened my then locker, sat in those classrooms.
Only 3 years ago. As I was looking at the eighth graders before me, I felt so aged.
Only 3 years ago was it that I sat in those chairs, listening to what the High School kids were going to say. And now, the tables switched. Now, it was me who stood before them.

As I was walking down those hallways again, perhaps for the last time, I told the person walking beside me that I could remember where my locker was. She laughed.

The one thing I'll always remember about that middle school was how ugly it really was. And smelly.

Oh, how the years go by.

thievery corporation

there is no school today, so i will be doing all the homework that i would normally do sunday night, today!
i have a lot to do due to my unbelievable procrastination skills. it gets frustrating after a while.
i have to do science, and anatomy, and math, and civics, and maybe some extra cred for world lit.

i'm procrastinating right now, actually.

i don't actually have anything to say, except that facebook is getting creepier,
zac posen is designing for target,
this song must be listened to.
and that i really want to watch the movie Dear John

mr. bojangles

cat stevens

this is liu wen and she is very beautiful. i showed some people this photo and most only commented on how thin she was, rather than the photo itself. i love the 'v' shape being made, and the blissfulness of her face. i like her cheekbones and shoulders. i think its very elegant, and very gorgeous.

time flies

time flies - lykke li

time does fly. i still can't get over the fact that i'm a junior. I remember the very first day of high school, just a freshman, and now a freaking junior? Where did this time go?

I feel completely different than I did freshman year. i really wonder what freshman me thought junior year would be like. i wonder if freshman me thought i would change. i really want to know what freshman me thinks of me now. would she be intimidated? flabbergastered? think that she would be really smart in the future seeing that i had to have invented some sort of time machine to actually go meet her? i don't know.
would she like me? am i what she saw herself wanting to be? or will she be disappointed me?

i like how i keep referring to freshman me as a completely different person, but the thing is, i think we are. freshman me was so naive, stupid, STUPID, and had no idea what was coming for her. i wonder is she knew that in two years she would be freaking out about standardized tests and gpas, instead of twilight.
i wonder what freshman me would think when she realized that junior me didn't like twilight anymore.

what i want is a time machine. at the end of senior year, i will travel back to the beginning of freshman year and meet her. i want her to see how she would turn out, and maybe that will make her make better decisions, maybe?

and also so i can see what i was like from another persons point of view. because we are different people now.

just a thought.

WWFF

Will Work for Food (WWFF) is a humanitarian relief organization to fight hunger, specifically in the Darfur region. Being a representative of WWFF for my school, I decided that it would be cool to do a blogpost about it. Maybe whoever reads this will get motivated to help this cause!

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that there are currently 20 million young children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.

Severe acute malnutrition (SAM) is a huge epidemic that people confuse with hunger. Malnutrition is the lack of essential nutrients that the body needs to survive. While, on the other hand, hunger is the lack of calories. SAM is often known as the "Silent Killer" because it is not receiving the attention it deserves.

"1 in 7 kids in Darfur are severely malnourished. This means that without our help, 15% of the children in Darfur will either starve to death or suffer from weakened physical and mental development."

To help fight malnutrition, is a bar known as Plumpy'Nut. WWFF's website states that "In the past, milk-based nutritional supplements had only a 25-40% recovery rate. When recently used in Niger, children given Plumpy'nut® had between a 81% to
95% recovery rate," which is amazing.
Plumpy'Nut is a 500 kcal mixture which includes peanut butter, vitamins, minerals, powdered milk, sugar, and vegetable oil. It is sweet-tasting, and can reverse malnutrition in half the time it takes for the products used before.
A 3-weeks supply of this bar would be enough to save one child's life. To learn more about Plumpy'Nut, click here.

What can you do?

Go to the website, which I linked to above, and sign up! See if there are any groups in your area, and if not, make one!
What you would need to do is to get sponsers for you (i.e. parents, other family members, businesses?) and ask them to donate around, say, 5 dollars for every 1 hour you volunteer. It is as simple as that!
For example, the WWFF at my school is having a scarf drive -- we're asking around local businesses to support us and donate money for every scarf we knit/or the hours we spent on making it.

They also have a blog, so you can check that out as well.
